Coolie No. 1 trailer released: Does the new ‘Coolie’ matches the aura of old ‘Coolie’ ?

Coolie No.1

The much awaited trailer of Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No.1 has released now. The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav in key roles. The film will be releasing on this Christmas on Amazon Prime Video.

Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagwani, Jackky Bhagwani and Deepshikha Deshmukh, the film is the readaptation of 1995 superhit of the same title ‘Coolie No 1’ starring Govinda and Karishma Kapoor in the lead.

Since the film was announced people started to draw comparisons with the classic. Govinda aced the character of Raju, the comic timing, the punch lines, the facial expression. This can be proved by the fact that, the movie till now holds a special place in everyone’s heart and now it will be extremely difficult for Varun Dhawan to match that aura.

Varun Dhawan who considers our beloved ‘Chichi’ an inspiration has tried his best to match that level of energy and charm but has failed. The fault is not of Varun but the trappings of the character ‘Raju’ is so much that the audience can’t imagine anyone else other than Govinda in these type of roles.

Coolie No. 1 is a typical Bollywood over the top comedy for which David Dhawan stands for. David has been delivering blockbusters in this genre for so many years. However seeing the current sentiments in the nation and the way audience have evolved it is difficult to say whether the film will reach the level that the makers expect.
