Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No. 1 has again come into a new controversy for defaming the Indian Armed Forces in their newly released song, ‘Mirchi Lagi Toh’ . In the video you can see the background dancers wearing Indian Armed Forces Uniform with ‘BALIDAAN Badges’ dancing in the background with the models. This act has left everyone pissed and netizens have started to call out the makers.
Not only this, dancers were seen wearing Indian Army uniform with a Balidaan Badge while dancing. Only Para SF commandos of Indian Army are allowed to wear Balidaan Badge and they earn it after completing one of the toughest commando training in the world.
The training is so tough that the average passing rate is just around 10 percent. The insignia is not a costume wear that anyone can wear. It’s a matter of pride for every Para SF commandos. It takes a lot of sacrifice and hardwork to earn that, and portraying dancers wearing that uniform with Balidaan Badge is not being taken on a good note by the audience.
After seeing Balidaan Badge and Indian Armed Forces uniform in the song, the audience became enraged and filled the comment section of the song ‘Mirchi Lagi toh’ with their disagreements.
This is not the first time, earlier in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, the Indian Air Force was portrayed in a wrong manner. The Armed Forces who leave behind their family and risk their lives for People of India, and being disrespectful towards them left netizens furious.
Just before the release the controversy can affect the film in a very bad way. People sentiments and anger towards Bollywood after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput is very much clear. There is already a lot of negativity surrounding the film. Varun Dhawan is millennials favourite and fans are expecting something new from the new age superstar.
Coolie No. 1 is directed by David Dhawan and is a remake of 1995 super-hit with the same name starring Govinda and Karishma Kapoor in lead. The film will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video this Christmas. A lot of expectations are riding with Coolie No. 1. This will be the first big theatre film releasing on OTT and the response will determine whether OTT is suited for big commercial over the top films.
