‘Cocomelon’ becomes United States first YouTube channel to cross 100 Billion views

The American YouTube channel Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes has done it again. This time, they have crossed the humongous milestone of 100 Billion views on YouTube which is a very big thing because before them only one other channel have been able to accomplish it and that is T-Series(an Indian music label), who did this in the last week of February of 2020.

Currently this kids education channel has over 110 Million subscribers, which by the way makes them the most subscribed YouTube channel in the United States of America and the second most subscribed YouTube channel in the world just behind T-Series(181 million subscribers). Fun fact, Cocomelon was initially named as ‘ThatsMEonTV‘ when they uploaded their very first video on the platform in September of 2006. It took them eight long years to reach 100,000 subscribers and after that, there’s no looking back. They kept on improvising their videos quality constantly and reached a variety of audience all across the world.

In 2016, they finally crossed the 1 Million subscribers mark and a month later completed 1 Billion views on their channel. Their content received such viewership in the coming years, that it went onto beat several music labels YouTube figures. As of now, they have 2 videos “Bath Song” & “Wheels on the Bus” in the Top 30 most viewed YouTube videos list with 4.0 Billion views and 2.9 Billion views respectively. In total, Cocomelon has 18 videos in the billion club.

Do you know, Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes is the first educational based YouTube channel to reach this far on the charts. UK’s Little Baby Bum is the only competitor in this category for them who are standing on the 16th spot with over 33 billion views. Every other channel on top are either a music channel or an entertainment channel or a sports channel.

COCOMELON‘S VIEWERSHIP GROWTH IN LAST FEW YEARS

As of this date, the channel has thousands of videos online which receives a huge amount of viewership growth on a daily basis. If we talk about numbers, then on an average Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes videos are viewed about 80 to 95 million times a day as compared to T-Series’ 100 to 115 million views a day. These are definitely the best figures you will find on the internet right now.

The thing which makes it even crazier is that, Cocomelon’s target audience are children from age 2 to 9(estimated range, it may vary) who are trying to learn nursery rhymes and alphabets from these videos. Sometime, teens as well as some adults also tune into this channel for entertainment. Imagining that, this small group of audience are generating millions of views daily is very hard to accept but it’s the truth. Do you know, according to an online report their annual earning from Google ads alone was estimated to be around $120 million.

There’s a big reason why the viewership is growing so rapidly in 2021. Look we all know, how the pandemic has affected the world order right now, most of the students are taking education from their homes through online mediums. So, the growth in online viewership has to increase obviously, there’s no doubt in that but the question is, will it be able to cross T-Series in the future?

The answer is, yes! There’s a good chance of it actually happening but not very soon, maybe in 2023. As of now, T-Series are standing on top of the mountain with over 152 Billion views far, far ahead of Cocomelon. The dominance of this channel on YouTube can be seen only when the creators will widen their content and appeal to a much larger group of audiences.

Currently they have four sister channels where they put videos in Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic. So, when they have videos in almost every major language of the world, the popularity will grow which will eventually bring more and more viewership. But for now, let’s focus on appreciating the success of this channel.
