This day marks the 10th anniversary of Chennai Super Kings lifting the IPL trophy.
Since that win, it rose a belief among the players and the supporting staff and the legacy of the franchise Chennai Super Kings began.

Chennai Super Kings was a successful franchise then, but they never lifted the trophy. This rose many questions on the captain as well as the management. The third edition of IPL was not going too well for the team. The captain faced many criticism for his team changes, but the franchise and fans stood by him through thick and thin. And then there comes a game against KXIP in Dharmashala, and a blastering knock from an angry MS Dhoni which was a rare site. That knock made the team come together and took the team into the playoffs.

Now the most fierce rivalry, Chennai Super Kings were to face Mumbai Indians in the finals. Mumbai Indians were in great form during the league stages with presence of greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Harrbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard. CSK batted first, and put up a score of 168 on the board. The team was in a staggering position, but the knock of Raina took CSK past 160.

This was a pretty decent score seeing the opponent, but the CSK bowlers came hard. As jakati took the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar the Mumbai’s batting order collapsed. And then came the Trinidad star Keiron Pollard, his knock of 27 from 10 brought Mumbai back into the game. But his knock was not enough, and MI at the end of 20 overs could only score 146 with the loss of 9 wickets.

Chennai Super Kings lifted the trophy, and the reign of MS Dhoni in IPL started. The franchise has seen lot of ups and downs in all these years, but the fans stood by their team no matter what. The respect the franchise has for their players can be clearly seen. For what MS Dhoni stands today, Chennai Super Kings has played a key role in it.
