Amitabh Bachchan today celebrates his 77 th birthday and fans have started pouring their birthdays wishes to the Megastar.

Amitabh’s previous film Badla turned out to be a blockbuster at Indiana Box Office as well as Overseas. Amitabh will be returning to the silver screen with movies Brahmastra, Gulabo Sitabo and Chehra which are scheduled to release in the year 2020.

Amitabh was born in Allahabad. His mother Teji Bachchan was a social activist and his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well known Hindi speaking Kayastha Hindu Poet.

Bachchan made his film debut in 1969, as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award-winning film Bhuvan Shome. His first acting role was as one of the seven protagonists in the film Saat Hindustani.

Followed by Anand in 1971 where he starred alongside Rajesh Khanna, this role bagged him with Filmfare Best supporting Actor Award

Unknown Facts about Amitabh Bachchan

1. Bachchan was initially named Inquilaab, inspired by the phrase Inquilaab Zindabad popularly used during India’s Independence Struggle, but the suggestion of fellow poet Sumitranandan Pant led Harvinsh Rai to change the boy’s name to Amitabh. Bachchan real surname is Srivastava but Amitabh’s father adopted pen name “Bachchan”.

2. Duiring his initial struggling days and before coming to Mumbai, Amitabh used to work in Kolkata in a company and get paid roughly 480rs. Big B mentioned this in his blog, “350 RUPEES A MONTH GONE FOR BED AND LODGING, FOOD SEPARATE, EATING THE PANI PURI OR THE PUCHKA PANI AT VICTORIA MEMORIAL. 2 RUPEES WOULD FILL THE STOMACH THATS IT AND DONE FOR THE ENTIRE DAY … LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FREE OFFICE LUNCH THE NEXT MORNING!”.

3. Sunil Dutt has signed him first in his film ‘Reshma Aur Shera’. For this Indira Gandhi had written a letter to her friend Nargis, the actress. This film was released in 1971.

4. Amitabh was rejected by All India Radio because of his voice, he applied AIR for the post of News Reader.

5. In film ‘Silsila’, the song ‘Rang Barse’some of the lyrics were written by his father, Harivanshrai Bachchan. However, in ‘Agneepath’ the poem that was spoken by Amitabh was also written by his Harivanshrai Bachchan.

6. Amitabh Bachchan can write with his both hands.

7.  In the Alexandria Film Festival in Egypt, 2001, he was awarded as the title of “superstar of the century”, he was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2001 and in 2003 he was awarded with citizenship of French’s Deauville town.

8. His bungalow “Jalsa” is a gift from Director Ramesh Sippy for his extraordinary work.

9. Amitabh Bachchan was contracted with Hepatitis B while undergoing treatment for his near-fatal accident in 1982. The actor was shooting for his film Coolie when he met with the accident. He was told by doctors that his liver lost 75 per cent of its function due to cirrhosis. One of his blood donors was incidentally carrying the Hepatitis B virus which entered his system while transfusion.
