Aakash Chopra recently during a live session with Pakistani Sports Journalist Sawera Pasha revealed his good memories of Pakistan and how People of Pakistan showered love upon him.
The Cricketer turn Commentator Aakash Chopra took the viewers down the memory lane, when he toured to Pakistan to play 3 Test matches in 2004. Aakash revealed how he was sceptical about visiting to Pakistan, but once he landed in Lahore he felt like being at home.
He said, “Before the tour I was a bit sceptical about visiting the country, but once I landed in Lahore there was so much love bestowed upon me. It is one of the fond memories of Pakistan. There seemed to be no difference between us and Pakistanis. The Political tensions between both the countries did not affected the way people treated us back then.”
India toured to Pakistan to play 5 ODI matches and 3 Test Matches against Pakistan. This was one of the historic tour for India, as India defeated Pakistan in their soil for the first time. India won the ODI series by 3-2 and Test Series by 2-1. Indian opener Virender Sehwag’s triple century in the first test in Multan against the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mohammed Sami is still one of the most remembered knock.
Aakash Chopra was part of that Heroic deed by India under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. After, Pakistan tour Aakash couldn’t play for India for a long period. Aakash Chopra played his last test against Australia in Nagpur in 2004. Aakash was dropped from the side when Australia defeated India for the first time in 35 years in Indian Soil and after that the cricketer never marked his return to the national side.
Aakash Chopra is currently one of the best Cricket Analyst and is seen commentating in various international and IPL matches. Other than that the former cricketer also runs his YouTube channel Aakash Vaani.
