No fire reported at the time of landing. There are 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots & 4 cabin crew onboard the aircraft.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on phone about Karipur plane crash. CM informed PM that a team of officials including Kozhikode and Malappuram District Collectors and IG Ashok Yadav have arrived at the airport and participating in the rescue operation.
Rescue operation is underway and people are being shifted to the nearest hospital.
An urgent meeting called of Civil Aviation Ministry is underway at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan. DGCA Director-General & officials of the ministry, Airport Authority of India & Air India Express are in the meeting.
